Understanding Global Issues
One-Day Program for Educators

Maryland Council on Economic Education
For teachers incorporating global economic concepts into their classes. Focus of the program will be on current global economic issues, with a variety of lecture/discussion sessions and case studies / simulations adapted for classroom use.
Topics addressed:
Standards of living Reasons for trade
Economic institutions Trade barriers
Exchange rate determination Trade alliances
Impact of trade – globally, nationally, per state / region
Who: Middle and High School Teachers. No prior economics knowledge is required.
Specifics: Saturday, March 18th from 8:30am to 3:00pm.
Location: Masonville Cove, 1000 Frankfurt Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21226
(Continental breakfast and lunch provided.)
Required: Advanced registration is required as the course is limited to 30 participants. Registration deadline – March 6, 2023
Click here to register or go to www.econed.org/events. A $25 deposit is required at the time of registration to reserve your seat. The deposit will be refunded to those who attend on March 18th and complete the course.
Stipend: A $100 stipend will be provided to all participants who complete the program. (plus the $25 deposit will be refunded to those that attend)
Notes: A maximum 30 teachers will be accepted on a first-come and qualified basis.
(Participants must be full-time educators during the 2022-2023 school year.)
Participants may (optionally) take the program for one graduate hour credit in economics from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. (Assignment to be given during program seminar.)
