CEE: Women’s History Month: Using the “She Persisted” Series to Teach Economics and Personal Finance

In this webinar teachers will:

• Celebrate Woman’s History Month by introducing students to the “She Persisted” chapter book biography series. [Oprah Winfrey, Patsy Mink, Marian Anderson, Sonia Sotomayor]
• Consider the benefits of using children’s literature to teach in the content areas.
• Review the economic concepts of poverty, scarcity, human resources, and opportunity cost.
• Discover methods for teaching the featured concepts using lessons created for the upper elementary and middle school classrooms.
• Review a multi-disciplinary biography unit’s enrichment and extension activities.
