Family Financial Fun Nights
What are Family Financial Fun Nights?
The Maryland Council on Economic Education’s Family Financial Fun Night is a one-of-a-kind experience designed to bring families together to explore important money skills—while having fun along the way!
These one-night events are hosted in partnership with local Maryland elementary schools and create a welcoming space for families to start meaningful conversations about making smart financial choices. With interactive activities, families learn practical skills that can continue to grow at home long after the event ends.
What to Expect
During Family Financial Fun Night, families rotate through a series of hands-on learning stations with their elementary student. Each station focuses on a key financial concept presented in a kid-friendly, engaging way.
Popular station topics include:
- Understanding Compound Interest – see how savings can grow over time
- Budgeting – practice making choices with limited resources
- Financial Vocabulary – build money-smart language together
- Risk and Reward – learn the basics of decision-making and trade-offs

Community-Powered Learning
Family Financial Fun Nights are made possible thanks to the teamwork of school staff, parent volunteers, and MCEE’s business and community partners from across Maryland. Together, they help guide activities and ensure every family leaves with new tools for making strong financial decisions.
Why It Matters
By bringing families and schools together around financial education, Family Financial Fun Night empowers both children and parents. Students build confidence with money skills, while families gain resources and ideas to keep the learning alive at home.
